The International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy,
seeks applications for a postdoctoral position in the theory and
simulation of
“Advanced multifunctional materials for spintronic applications”
in the framework of a scientific collaboration with Elettra, the Italian
advanced light source.
Applications are solicited from outstanding young scientists of any
nationality with a strong research record in the field of atomistic
simulations and electronic structure theory. Prior work on spintronic
or magnetic materials will be a plus. Female candidates are strongly
encouraged to apply. Starting period: end of 2025 to early 2026.
Fellows must have completed a PhD in physics or related disciplines
prior to the start of their fellowship.
With about 50 academic members (faculty, visitors, postdocs and graduate
students), an intense programme of workshops and conferences, and close
collaborations with local scientific institutions such as SISSA, CNR,
and the University of Trieste, ICTP’s Condensed Matter and Statistical
Physics section provides a vibrant international research environment.
Postdoctoral fellows are also encouraged, and supported, to participate
in activities in developing countries in order to promote the mission of
ICTP.
ICTP offers internationally competitive remuneration and a number of
benefits. The appointment is for two years. Candidates should apply
